I can’t believe it is already Wednesday!
So this is it! My first WIAW post ever. That is EVER in caps, if you were not sure.
I’ve been reading WIAW posts forever but I’ve never participated. This was one of those ideas in the back of my little brian that I only considered occasionally. As in, I really should do that. But normally the thought would go unnoticed for months at a time. But, you see, this week is different. I have nothing to blog about this week. I have nothing to show you. I haven’t cooked anything new, or even not-so-new, since sometime last week. So it only made sense that I should jump on this train and get involved, as in now.
This is a great opportunity to talk about regular food. They every day stuff that myself and my family eat, day-in, day-out. It gives me a chance to reflect on what I actually ate, a process that can be very.. um… enlightening once in a while.
P.S. WIAW is hosted by Peas and Crayons and you should go check out the rest of the WIAW posts in this linky party!
So here is my first ever What I Ate Wednesday…..
Breakfast: my favourite high fibre, crunchy almond cereal with a full cup of blueberries, chia seeds and hemp hearts and a splash of almond milk.
Snack: A banana. The orange was in at the time of the photo-op, but sadly Orange did not get eaten. Sometimes oranges are just too much trouble, don’t you find, or is it just me…
Lunch: a salad with romaine, black beans, cherry tomatoes, parsley, and black olives. Mixed with whatever dressing I can find in the office fridge.
Unscheduled (& not pictured) snack: someone brought in nacho chips and homemade salsa to the office this afternoon. Seriously yumm.
Dinner: My version of Mama Pea’s Crack Wrap. That’s a whole wheat tortilla smothered in hummus (your choice) and topped with cheese (your choice, vegan if you got it) and grilled. I eat mine with salsa. I also use my George Foreman Grill when I make it and call it a panini press. 🙂 It might be a bit old school but it does the job.
After dinner treat: Chocolate square dipped in crunchy peanut butter. Actually, 2 since the first time I forgot to take the picture. So I had to do it again, for the photo’s sake.
As a side note:
You might be wondering if that hummus is actually green or if my colour setting is a bit off on my camera. Yep, the hummus is actually green. In this wrap…. Edamame Hummus, purchased from my new favourite store… Costco.
Speaking of Hummus purchases, I bought so many varieties last time I visited Costco I think the checkout girl thought I was having a party. This is a newly discovered favourite – Caramelized Onion Hummus. I ate the whole container on my own (… no not all at once, who do you think I am!) Definitely worth a try if you happen upon it where you are.
