I was going to save my running post for the weekend. I like ending my week with a post about fitness. But since it’s National Running Day it only seemed right to talk about running today.
Do you know that in last 10 months I have run a total of 195 miles?! That’s when I started keeping track on Mapmyrun.com. Pretty cool I think.
I’m so incredibly proud of my mileage. That is 200 miles that I would have not run, had I not made up my mind to start. It’s all about starting isn’t it?
I’m especially proud considering I’ve accumulated these 200 miles 2 or 3 at a time. No 10 milers in that bunch.
If you have been following along, you know that I’ve put new effort into regular running over the last month. I’m hooked. I love the feeling of accomplishment after finishing a run. It’s a feeling that stays with me all day, and well into the next. When I’m done, I want to tell everyone. “I just ran!” with the exclamation mark!
You may also know that it was my birthday… just yesterday. Is it coincidental that the first day of my next year on this earth is National Running Day? I think it is a sign. I need to keep running. I certainly have support from family to keep at it. For my birthday I received another sign I should keep running…
Sure, there is a part of me that feels a bit foolish with a watch with GPS and all these bells and whistles when my usual runs are never much more than 3 miles at a time. I really don’t need to track my splits at this rate. And it’s hard to lose track of where you are at, even how fast you are going, when you only run 3 miles. So to put this bad-boy to use I need to keep going and going farther. New shoes, new socks, new Garmin… I’m all set!
