Note to self: this week’s must trys

August 12, 2011 in FOOD, notes to self

A new post idea (let’s see if I keep it up?)

I spend hours, sometimes hours I should be doing something else (like working “gasp!”) browsing blogs and drooling over recipes I need to try, must try, our ought to try.  But I am a terrible note taker and I am even worse at bookmarking and tagging……

….I see something and decide on the spot that it would be really great “for my next dinner with friends,” or “the next time we need a bringalong,” or even “for next holiday (whichever)”……….

… or maybe “for the next time I feel like baking” or for “the next time my kid has a birthday”…. anyways you get the idea.

The point is, there are literally hundreds of great recipes out there that I have vowed to myself that I will try someday and made some sort of mental note to remember for “when (insert appropriate occassion here)” arrives, only to be forgotten when I walk away from the computer.   The worse part of this, is an occassion will arise and I will have absolutely no idea what to make.  I will have a vague ”oh, I know I had a terrific recipe for just this thing..”   I could find the recipe if I had the faintest idea of it’s contents  – was it a dip? or a salad? tofu or no?

I need a better system.

So my Notes to Self…. and some homaage to all those blogs I follow with deliciousness and amazing ideas, here is this week’s must trys:

I found this on the Two Girls on the Go  blog.  I love this blog, it is so full of health, fitness and motivation.

Cliantrol Lime Hummus:  I love hummus and I love cliantro, so what can I say, this has to be good and it is a pretty pale green colour too – check it out.

Avocado Pasta  this looks seriously good folks!  And dinner would be ready in no time flat.

From my new favourite blog Peas and Thankyou , yes I can be alittle slow, but I’ve recently discovered this site and just love all of it  There is a book too!

grilled watermelon salad and tofu cheese… grilled watermelon just sounds so intriging and I think could be fab served to guests.  The tofu cheese scares me, only because I haven’t had a good non-dairy cheese subsitute, ever… I’m willing to be brave and try this time… and since her other recipes are so good, I’m hopeful this one will work too.

And last but not least, and probably the yummiest thing I have seen in a long time..  apricot pie.. my goodness!
